About the role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and forward-thinking leader to influence the direction of SEND provision across a growing Trust, while continuing to lead a specialist school and make a lasting impact on the lives of children and young people.

The Legacy Learning Trust (TLLT) is a dynamic and expanding multi-academy trust based in the Tees Valley. Our family of schools currently includes a large secondary school with an ASD specialist provision, six mainstream primary schools (one with a SEMH intervention provision), and a large all-through ASD specialist school from EYFS to post-16, which is progressing towards joining the Trust.

We have been identified by the DfE as a strong supporting organisation for three RISE bespoke school improvement projects beyond our Trust over two years.

A member of our Central Education Team (CET) has been appointed as Regional Lead for the DfE North East Behaviour and Attendance Hub and we have recently been in receipt of letters from the Secretary of State for over half of our schools congratulating Trust Leaders and the wider staff on exceptional outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.

At TLLT, learners and learning sit at the heart of everything we do. We believe schools thrive when they are rooted in their communities and supported by a strong collective vision. In response to increasing demand for high-quality, inclusive SEND provision, we are seeking an Executive Headteacher for SEND who will also take on the statutory Headteacher role at Beverley School.

Beverley School, a specialist all-through setting for pupils with SEND, is scheduled to join the Trust in Summer 2026. Throughout the transition and beyond, the successful candidate will hold a dual leadership role: providing executive leadership for SEND across the Trust while ensuring strong, stable leadership for Beverley School. This role will be pivotal in supporting the school’s journey to academy status and in shaping a coherent, ambitious SEND strategy across all Trust settings.

As a member of the Central Education Team, the post holder will:

  • Lead the Trust-wide SEND strategy and ensure statutory compliance
  • Support, challenge and develop leaders to secure excellent SEND provision
  • Use data, research and evidence to drive improvement and innovation
  • Work closely with Trustees, Local Authorities and external partners

  • Experience of leading people, change and school improvement
  • Credibility at senior and executive level
  • A strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and equity
