London,
After a period of extensive negotiation and consultation, a pay agreement has now been accepted for support staff employed under the NJC Green Book for the 2025-26 financial year.
The final agreement is a 3.2% increase on all spinal points and allowances. Any locally determined pay points above 43 but graded below Deputy Chief Officer should also be increased by 3.2%, in line with the Green Book. Pay will be backdated to April 2025. The final pay agreement does not include any of the additional elements requested in the unions pay offer around additional days leave or a reduced working week.
This agreement follows ballots by the three recognised trade unions. While UNISON and Unite members had initially rejected the offer and initiated strike ballots, GMB members voted to accept. In light of the evolving industrial landscape and ongoing pressures facing the sector, UNISON has now confirmed its acceptance, allowing the deal to move forward.
This brings much-needed clarity for schools and trusts as they plan staffing budgets, implement pay awards, and prepare for the academic year ahead.
